Solaris: Youth Mentoring Programme
1:1 Youth Mentoring and Therapeutic Support
Service Description
Spread over 10 focused 1:1 sessions Available to Children and Young People (CYP) within Warwick District (additional travel expenses if needed outside of this area) We offer payment plans. Solaris one to one is a person centred, non judgemental, restorative and solutions focused practice that is based on the needs of the child/young person. Our approach is to use mentoring/coaching and dialogic teaching techniques to engage in meaningful navigation of personal and social awareness. This will explicitly link service users to the right tools for repairing relationships and creating healthy new ones; exploring what resources and strengths are within the micro and macro levels of a CYP's "world" and how to best utilise them. We will be taking into consideration the experiences of the CYP's relationships as a means of resolving their personal conflict that is likely driving destructive and/or challenging behaviours. Our practice is based within the principles of anti oppression, peace building (education for peace), appreciating diversity, service leadership, youth work, informal education for self and social development to name but a few (Brendtro et al, 2002. Young, 1999. Friere 1996. Jeffs and Smith 1988. Torres, C 2001, Sapin, 2009. Kolb, 2014. Van der Kolk, 2014. Williams and Penman, 2011.) Delivered over 10 sessions. Solaris aim to achieve outcomes that are real for the CYP. Solaris staff are diversely experienced youth work practitioners, teachers, leaders and facilitators, they are consistent in both character and reliability. · We will work with the CYP to help them realise their potential and support them in their journey towards reaching their full potential. They will be encouraged to take ownership of themselves and set their own goals. · We will develop a relationship that is non-judgemental and based on honesty and openness within boundaries that build trust and reliability. · We will take a genuine interest in the CYP's self and social development · We will encourage any skills and hobbies the CYP has and may help to develop new ones. · We will operate an anti oppressive practice within peace pedagogy · We will aim to improve CYP confidence, their self awareness and social awareness. Each CYP mentorship will be personalised to meet their needs. Please contact our lead mentor Luke Spate to discuss what is possible for your child. We are inclusive with a wealth of experience.
